Energy Grants and Subsidies in Flanders

After all the work and effort you’ve put in, you’ve earned your grant!

Flanders has recently begun evolving its support policies for solar energy. While it was the last region in Belgium to offer the Fluvius grant for photovoltaic panel installations, this scheme was discontinued on 1 January 2024. However, there’s no need to be discouraged. Several other grants and financial aids are still available to encourage solar installations and support the energy transition in the region. These options are expanding, making access to sustainable solutions increasingly easy and advantageous for Flemish households and businesses.

Changes to Solar Panel Subsidies

Since 1 January 2024, the Fluvius grant for solar panel installation is no longer available. This decision was made following a decrease in the cost of photovoltaic panels, making their installation profitable without the need for subsidies. The Flemish government has announced that for installations validated before this date, the grant remains applicable, but only if they are registered with Fluvius by 1 April 2024. After this deadline, no grants will be awarded. Owners of solar panels installed before January 2024 must ensure they meet this deadline to qualify for financial assistance; otherwise, they will no longer be eligible. From 2025 onwards, no grants will be available for new installations.
